Bob Myers Reveals Honest Reason for Leaving Warriors

Bob Myers has left his position with the Golden State Warriors

Bob Myers, the longtime Golden State Warriors GM and President of Basketball Operations, has officially stepped down from his position with the team. During a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Myers revealed his honest reason for leaving Golden State, simply stating that he was no longer in a position to give the job the commitment it needs.

"The bottom line is this job, the one I'm in - I would say this for any professional General Manager or coach, requires complete engagement, complete effort, one-thousand percent. If you can't do it, then you shouldn't do it. So that's the answer to the question of why. I can't do that to our players, I can't do that to Joe, Peter, really I can't do it to myself. And that's the question I've been wrestling with."

Myers was emotional in his press conference, thanking everybody he came across during his time with the Warriors, including fans he would see around town. It was a successful tenure for Myers, who helped build four championship seasons for Golden State, including the most recent title in 2022.

It will be hard for the Warriors to replace Myers, who was not only a roster builder, but a relationship builder. Myers' relationships with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Steve Kerr have been well-documented, which is arguably the biggest loss the Warriors will experience with his departure.
