Gary Payton II Shockingly Reacts to Golden State Warriors Trade

Gary Payton II was "blindsided" about getting traded to the Warriors.

No one could believe that the Golden State Warriors acquired Gary Payton II at the trade deadline, not even Gary Payton II himself. Payton spoke to the media for the first time since the trade, and the injury controversy, and opened up about everything.

"Blindsided," Payton said. "Shocked me just like it shocked everybody else. Ten minutes before the trade deadline I was notified."

One of the more interesting things that Payton said during his press conference was the fact that he wasn't surprised about his physical failing. He was surprised at being traded to the Warriors, but not surprised at the more shocking aspect of the trade.

"Not really," Payton said. "I kind of knew where my body was, how it was and everything. It was out of my hands. I just had to tell them what it was and go from there."

Despite all of the controversy surrounding the trade, Gary Payton II is still incredibly excited to be back in Golden State. It's clear that he never really wanted to leave, but deserved to get the money that he earned.

"There's nothing like the Warriors organization," Payton said. "Being in the Bay around my family and everything, I'm happy I get to see my family more."

There's no timetable on when Gary Payton II will return to the Warriors lineup. The team desperately needs both him and Steph Curry out there but will have to figure out ways to survive without both of them.
