The Miami Dolphins have hired former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum in a consultant's role.
Tannenbaum took over as GM of the Jets in 2006, and held the position until he was fired after the 2012 season.
In 2013, Tannenbaum began working with a sports agency.
The Jets went to consecutive AFC championship games during Tannenbaum's tenure, but he was fired after a 6-10 season in 2012, and replaced by former Seahawks executive John Idzik.
The Dolphins fired general manager Jeff Ireland at the end of last season. He was replaced by Dennis Hickey.
