Redskins' DE: Kicker better make game-winning field goal ... or else

Monday October 20th, 2014

The Washington Redskins beat the Tennessee Titans on a game-winning field goal to win 19-17.

After the game, Redskins defensive end Jason Hatcher was asked by Rob Carlin of Comcast SportsNet what he was thinking when he watched kicker Kai Forbath attempt the field goal.

“You better make it or I’m gonna kill you,” Hatcher recalled. “Because that’s all you’ve got to do is kick the ball.”

Later in the interview, Hatcher confirmed that he was "not lying" -- though he said it with a laugh. Hatcher said since Forbath made the field goal he was "allowed back in the locker room."

Forbath accounted for all but six of the Redskins' 19 points in the game.

The Redskins' lone touchdown came on a pass to receiver Pierre Garcon from quarterback Colt McCoy. McCoy replaced starting quarterback Kirk Cousins during the Redskins' first drive in the third quarter. McCoy, who led the Redskins 76 yards down the field for the game-winning field goal try, finished the game 11-for-12 with 128 passing yards. In three quarters, Cousins was 10-of-16 for 136 yards and an interception.
