Chiefs sign veteran wide receiver Jason Avant

Saturday November 22nd, 2014

The Chiefs have signed receiver Jason Avant, according to multiple reports. Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun was first to report the news.

Avant was waived by the Panthers on Tuesday and went unclaimed. Avant was critical of Carolina's playcalling after Sunday's loss to the Falcons. Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said the decision to cut Avant was not related to his comments.

Avant, 31, has 21 receptions for 201 yards this season with one touchdown. The Chiefs have not had a wide receiver catch a touchdown pass yet this season.
