The Patriots will release cornerback Alfonzo Dennard

The New England Patriots will release cornerback Alfonzo Dennard,'s Ian Rapoport reports.

A seventh-round pick in 2012, Dennard appeared in 29 games over three seasons with the Patriots, tallying 81 tackles and five interceptions. He intercepted Andrew Luck twice in the Patriots' divisional playoff victory over the Colts in January, 2014.

The 25-year-old has faced legal issues since joining the Patriots, serving 35 days in jail last year following several arrests.

Logan Ryan and Kyle Arrington are listed as the Patriots' starting cornerbacks on the team's unofficial depth chart. New England lost cornerback Darrelle Revis to the New York Jets in free agency.

The Patriots selected safety Jordan Richards in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft and also added cornerback Darryl Roberts in the seventh round.
