Report: Giants withdraw $60 million offer to Jason Pierre-Paul
The New York Giants have pulled a $60 million long-term contract offer to defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Pierre-Paul injured his hands in a fireworks accident in Florida on Saturday and reportedly remains hospitalized on Monday. He is reported to have “severe burns on his palm and tips of three fingers,” with one finger being tested for nerve damage.
Rapoport reports that Pierre-Paul was not expected to accept the offer prior to the accident and appears set to play on the $14.8 million franchise tag the Giants gave him in March. The sides have a July 15 deadline to reach a long-term deal.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Pierre-Paul will undergo further testing on Monday and that the team was “pretty pleased” with the initial prognosis. Schefter said Pierre-Paul sustained injuries to both hands, “one significant, the other not as significant,” although the Giants do have some concern that Pierre-Paul could miss training camp and possibly the start of the regular season. The team said it was still waiting for more medical information as of Monday evening.
Pierre-Paul, 26, played in all 16 games for New York in 2014, recording 77 tackles, 12.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection.
