Report: Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul released from hospital
New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been released from the hospital, 10 days after injuring his hand in a fireworks accident, Kimberly Jones of the NFL Network reports.
While Pierre-Paul was in the hospital in Miami, several Giants officials went to meet with him but were turned away, according to multiple reports. ESPN’s Ed Werner reported that Pierre-Paul had “numerous” surgeries, while ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted an image on Twitter of Pierre-Paul’s medical records, showing he had his right index finger amputated. The hospital is investigating how those records were leaked to Schefter.
In addition to the amputation, NFL.com reports Pierre-Paul also had surgery to insert pins into a broken thumb and could be out until the end of training camp.

Pierre-Paul is not currently under contract with the Giants. The team placed the franchise tag on him but he did not sign the one-year, $14.8 million franchise tender before his injury. He has until Wednesday to reach a long-term deal but the Giants reportedly pulled a $60 million long-term contract offer earlier this week.
