Vikings restructure final three years of Adrian Peterson’s contract
The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to restructure the final three years of Adrian Peterson’s contract, the team announced Tuesday.
“Rumblings the last few weeks were Peterson would trade a few dollars down the line in exchange for guaranteed money in short term,” Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reports.
Peterson’s relationship with the Vikings had reportedly been strained after his arrest last year on child abuse charges and the NFL’s ensuing suspension. Peterson eventually pleaded no contest to a lesser charge.
Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Pressreported in May that Peterson was skipping Minnesota’s organized team activities this spring because he felt that some in the organization didn't support him during his suspension last season. Peterson did eventually report to OTAs and assured that there were no hard feelings between he and the team.

Peterson, 30, is a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time First Team All-Pro selection. He led the NFL with 2,097 rushing yards in 2012 and rushed for 1,266 yards in 14 games in 2013. Because of his arrest last year, he played only one game in 2014.
Without Peterson last season, Matt Asiata led the Vikings with 570 yards while averaging 3.5 yards per carry. Peterson's career average is 5.0 yards per carry.
