Week 2 NFL Odds: Broncos underdogs for Thursday's game against Chiefs

After an unconvincing first win over the Ravens, Peyton Manning and the Broncos find themselves underdogs heading into Thursday night's game against the AFC West rival Chiefs.

It’s a quick turnaround for a couple of AFC West rivals in Week 2 of the NFL season as the Chiefs and the Broncos meet in Kansas City on Thursday Night Football.

Peyton Manning and the Broncos looked stagnant in their opening win over the Ravens at home, while the Chiefs topped the Texans 27-20 on the road. As a result, Denver finds itself listed as a 3-point betting underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Broncos are 6-0 straight up in their last six matchups with the Chiefs, but with Peyton Manning struggling, this could be the time that Kansas City puts an end to that trend.

In one of the week’s marquee matchups, Rex Ryan and his Buffalo Bills find themselves as 1-point home underdogs to the New England Patriots, despite their impressive 27-14 thrashing of Andrew Luck and the Colts in Week 1.

Broncos work around Manning's limitations in season-opening win

The Patriots have owned this rivalry, going 26-3 straight up in their last 29 games against Buffalo, but the Bills haven’t boasted a defense this good in a long time. Buffalo is 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games dating back to last season.

The Colts look to put their embarrassing loss behind them as they host another AFC East squad with a stout defense, the New York Jets, on Monday night. Indianapolis has been installed as a 7-point favorite despite the fact that they’re just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games at home in September according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

The Colts are still considered one of the favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl though, so a blowout victory in front of a national audience wouldn’t come as a shock to anyone.

• BANKS: Week 1 Snaps—Mariota plays like the No. 1 draft pick

The other primetime matchup looks like a great one on paper, as the Green Bay Packers look to avenge last year’s playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The Packers are laying 3.5 points at home, where they’ve gone 9-0 straight up and 6-2-1 against the spread in their last nine games as a favorite.

The Seahawks have had the Packers' number though, winning each of their last three games, and they’ll surely be motivated coming off a tight loss to the Rams.

New Orleans is the biggest favorite of the week, laying 10 points at home to the Bucs, despite having lost by double-digits to the Cardinals in Week 1. (The Bucs, meanwhile, are coming off a dismal 28-point loss to Tennessee). In a couple of other interesting Week 2 matchups, Marcus Mariota and the Titans find themselves as 1-point dogs in Cleveland, while the Bengals are 3.5 point chalk at home to the Chargers.
