Week 3 NFL Odds: Winless Giants favored over division rival Redskins
Two weeks of the NFL season are in the books, and we now set our sights on Week 3, which has some interesting matchups on deck.
Thursday Night Football pits two NFC East foes against one another, as the winless Giants look to get on track at home against the 1-1 Redskins, who put together an impressive win against the Rams in Week 2. New York is installed as a four-point betting favorite at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com with the total sitting at 44.
It’s important to note that the last five meetings between these two teams in New Jersey have all stayed under the total, so there may be another sloppy, low-scoring affair on the horizon.

While one of those two NFC East teams is assured of a win this week, the same cannot be said for the Cowboys and Eagles, both of whom have tough matchups ahead. Dallas will be without their starting quarterback, Tony Romo, as it hosts the undefeated Falcons. Oddsmakers don’t have much faith in backup Brandon Weeden, as the Cowboys are currently 1.5-point underdogs on their home turf.
Meanwhile, the winless Eagles head on the road as they battle the New York Jets. Despite their awful start, oddsmakers still believe in Philadelphia, as they’ve been installed as a two-point favorite away from home. The Jets have played well at home as of late, covering four of their last five games at MetLife Stadium according to the OddsShark NFL Database.
The biggest favorite on the board is the Patriots, as they’re laying 13.5 points at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags are fresh off of an upset of the Dolphins in Week 2, but they won’t like their chances against Tom Brady and the high-powered Patriots offense.

Meanwhile, a pair of AFC East rivals lock horns in Miami, where the Dolphins are 2.5-point home chalk to the Buffalo Bills. It remains to be seen if Buffalo can get up for this game, having lost to New England at home last week. Miami, meanwhile, will be looking to get back on track after an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Jags.
Other important matchups see the Packers laying seven points at home to the Chiefs on Monday Night Football, the Ravens laying three points at home to Cincinnati in an AFC North affair, and the Steelers installed as one-point road chalk in St. Louis.
