Chargers, Raiders, Rams apply to relocate to Los Angeles
Tuesday January 5th, 2016

The Chargers, Rams and Raiders have filed applications with the NFL to relocate to Los Angeles by next season, the NFL announced Monday night

The NFL owners will meet in New York next week to vote on the applications. In order for the proposals to be approved, they must receive the support of 24 of the league’s 32 owners.

Monday was the first day teams could apply for relocation. All three teams have long been interested in moving to Los Angeles after having trouble securing new stadiums in their current cities.

“We have tried for more than 14 years, through nine separate proposals and seven different mayors, to create a world-class stadium experience for fans in San Diego,” the Chargers said in a statement. “Despite these efforts, there is still no certain, actionable solution to the stadium problem. We are sad to have reached this point.”

Multiple proposals exist for new NFL venues in Los Angeles but any team moving there next season would need a temporary home. The Rose Bowl, Los Angeles Coliseum and Dodger Stadium have been floated as possibilities.
