The NFL franchise tag deadline was Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET and several teams applied the tag to their star players before they could reach free agency.

• Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford didn’t receive the franchise tag, but he did reach a two-year, $36 million deal with the team. Of that money, $26 million is guaranteed.

• The Green Bay Packers gave kicker Mason Crosby a new contract for four years, $16 million, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

• The Buffalo Bills announced the release of three players Tuesday, including defensive end Mario Williams. The team saved nearly $13 million by cutting Williams. The other players released were guard Kraig Urbik and running back Boobie Dixon.

• Chat Sports: Five players whose draft stocks fell at the combine

• The Dallas Cowboys are expected to release cornerback Brandon Carr, reports Yahoo! Sports.

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning still wants to play, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Seattle Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung will represent himself during contract negotiations, he announced Tuesday. 

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Rishard Matthews told South Florida radio station WQAM that he “would love” to return to the Dolphins as at least the No. 2 wideout.
