Adrian Peterson is donating $100,000 to the flood relief efforts in his hometown of Palestine, Texas after six people died as a result of the flooding
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is donating $100,000 to flood relief efforts in his hometown of Palestine, Texas, after six people died in the flooding over the weekend, the Associated Press reports.
“You have a whole community who has supported me through everything, my ups and my downs. They know me to my core,” Peterson said on Wednesday. “They raised me in Palestine. So to see them affected by a flood and to have life lost and people’s life savings and work just swept away within a span of hours, it really hits me in the core.”
Of the six people who died in the torrential downpour that dropped over seven inches of rain on the town in less than an hour on Friday, four were children and one was a former high school football teammate of Peterson’s.
Peterson has pledged to match donations made during his fundraising campaign, and encouraged people to text AP28 to 51555 to donate.
