The Seattle Seahawks have signed head coach Pete Carroll to a contract extension, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

A three-year deal Carroll signed in 2014 was set to expire after this season. Carroll’s new deal runs through 2019, according to the report.

The Seahawks have experienced great success since Carroll took over in 2010. Hired away from USC, Carroll has led Seattle to a 60–36 record in six seasons, as well as five playoff appearances, two Super Bowl berths and a Super Bowl title.

The key to an Aaron Rodgers rebound year

Carroll, 64, previously coached the Jets and Patriots in the ‘90s before an extremely accomplished run as the coach of the Trojans from 2001–09.

The Seahawks made the playoffs last season, but fell to the eventual NFC champion Panthers in the Divisional round. The team also extended general manager John Schneider earlier this week.
