Broncos QB Paxton Lynch says he still has shot at starting job

Denver Broncos rookie Paxton Lynch thinks that he still has a shot at the team’s starting quarterback position, reports Jeff Legwold of ESPN.
After Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler decided to join the Houston Texans, the Super Bowl 50 champs are currently holding auditions for the job. Coach Gary Kubiak previously said that Mark Sanchez and Trevor Siemian are “neck-and-neck” in the battle, but Lynch does not want to be overlooked.
“I definitely think I have the opportunity to better myself and put myself up in that position to play right away or sooner than I had thought,” Lynch said Tuesday. “I knew those guys were going to be ahead of me just because of experience — Trevor his experience in the offense and Mark his experience in the league and me being a rookie, and this is the first time I've seen a playbook like that.”
Lynch was selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft by the Broncos out of Memphis. The rookie said he anticipated that it would take some time to adjust to Denver’s offensive strategy.

“This is the first time that I've seen a playbook like that, so I knew it was going to be tough and I knew I was going to be behind,” he said. “The biggest thing for me is just staying confident in myself, keep my head up, keep pushing through and keep grinding. It'll come to you eventually.”
Lynch also added that he feels that it is his role as a rookie to push Sanchez and Siemian.
The Broncos kick off their season on Sept. 8 against the Carolina Panthers.
