Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews will miss “a couple weeks” after suffering a strained knee in practice Friday, coach Doug Pederson said after practice Monday.

Matthews suffered the injury after taking a low hit from rookie Jalen Mills during a live practice session. He could be healthy by the third preseason game, and the injury is not expected to affect his status for week 1.

"I don’t think so," Pederson said via Philly.com. "I think it’s something that’s just kind of weeks away."

The injury did not lead to any structural damage.

Matthews started 13 games for the Eagles last season, making 85 receptions for 997 yards and eight touchdowns.
