Colin Kaepernick will donate $1 million to communities in need
Friday September 2nd, 2016

Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin tweeted his support of 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick on Friday.

Kaepernick has garnered many reactions after not standing during the national anthem to protest racial inequality in America. Kaepernick sat during the anthem in the first three games of the preseason, then kneeled along with teammate Eric Reid in the 49ers’ final preseason game.

Kaepernick has said he is not standing during the anthem to raise awareness for the oppression of black people in America. Baldwin tweeted Friday those who construe Kaepernick’s protest as disrespectful of the military are missing the point. Here is Baldwin’s full series of tweets:

Support for Kaepernick and his message flourishes

Baldwin joins his teammate Jeremy Lane and Broncos tackle Russell Okung as players who have acted publicly in favor of the 49ers quarterback.

Kaepernick said Thursday he plans to donate $1 million of his salary to help communities at the forefront of the issues described in his protest.
