NFL odds: Patriots, Colts among early favorites in key Week 4 games

The Patriots, despite facing uncertainty at quarterback, and Colts, who are heading to London to tangle with the Jaguars, are among the early favorites in Week 4.

The New England Patriots (3–0) will try to stay perfect without quarterback Tom Brady as he serves the last game of his four-game suspension in Week 4 this Sunday when they host the Buffalo Bills (1–2) in a key AFC East showdown.

The Bills are coming off a 33–18 upset of the Arizona Cardinals as 4.5-point home underdogs and have lost 23 of their past 25 meetings with the Patriots according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

Winning straight up as dogs has not been good for the Bills in their next game historically, as they have gone 2–12–1 ATS their last 15 times under that scenario.

New England has covered its last four home games but does not know if Brady’s backup Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) or third-stringer Jacoby Brissett will be ready to go vs. Buffalo. Wide receiver Julian Edelman was the emergency quarterback when the team blanked the Houston Texans 27–0 in the Week 3 Thursday Night Football game with the rookie Brissett starting in place of Garoppolo.

Some sportsbooks monitored by opened the Pats as 4-point favorites for this week's game against the Bills, with others holding off until the team's quarterback situation becomes more clear.

Kicking off Week 4 on Thursday will be an AFC matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals (1–2) and Miami Dolphins (1–2), who are coming off their first win in overtime against the Cleveland Browns but find themselves as seven-point road underdogs here.

The Dolphins have won 11 of the past 13 meetings with the Bengals SU, covering the spread in nine of the last 11. However, Miami has lost nine of 11 as a road dog.

The Jacksonville Jaguars (0–3), winless on the season, will try to bust their slump as 2.5-point underdogs against the Indianapolis Colts (1–2) in their annual London game.

The Jaguars won for the first time in three trips to London last year when they upset the Bills 34–31 as three-point dogs. That started a four-game cover streak for Jacksonville, while Indianapolis is 6–1 SU and 5–2 ATS in the past seven meetings with its divisional rival.

The Dallas Cowboys (2–1) will try to beat the San Francisco 49ers (1–2) for the fourth time in five meetings as three-point road favorites in Week 4. However, the 49ers are an impressive 5–1 ATS in their last six games after suffering consecutive losses.

In the Sunday Night Football game, the Pittsburgh Steelers (2–1) will get running back Le’Veon Bell back from his three-game suspension when they host the Kansas City Chiefs (2–1) as six-point home favorites. The Steelers were embarrassed by the Philadelphia Eagles and rookie quarterback Carson Wentz in a 34–3 loss last Sunday as four-point road favorites.

Pittsburgh is 12–2 SU in its last 14 games following a loss but has failed to cover the spread in four of its past five meetings with Kansas City.

And the Minnesota Vikings (3–0) will look to remain unbeaten when they host the New York Giants (2–1) as four-point home favorites to wrap up Week 4 on Monday NightFootball. The Vikings are 0–7 ATS in their last seven MNF appearances, but they are 7–1 SU and ATS in their previous eight games as chalk of four points or less.
