Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett will undergo surgery on his injured right thumb, Jim McBride and Ben Volin of the Boston Globe report.

Brissett, who has started the last two games for New England, missed practice on Friday. He was set to return to the sidelines with starter Tom Brady returning from a four-game suspension.

The third-round pick completed 34 of 55 across three games with 400 yards, adding 83 and a touchdown on the ground. The Patriots won Brissett’s first two games before being shut out in Buffalo last Sunday.

New England visits Cleveland at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
