NFL adds Skills Showdown, with dodgeball, to Pro Bowl week

NEW YORK (AP) The NFL is adding some schoolyard fun to Pro Bowl week.

The league announced it will have a Skills Showdown, featuring Pro Bowlers competing in a game of dodgeball.

The showdown will be Thursday, Jan. 26 in Orlando, Florida, site of the all-star game.

The other competitions will include a timed relay race and precision passing as well as ''best hands,'' in which QB and wide receiver duos from each team will try to connect on as many pass attempts as possible in a certain amount of time.

Each team in the showdown will feature a mix of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, linemen, linebackers and defensive backs.

The Pro Bowl legends captains, Jerome Bettis and Ray Lewis of the AFC, Tony Gonzalez and Charles Woodson of the NFC, will lead their respective teams.

The Pro Bowl players will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 20 on NFL Network. The Pro Bowl will be Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017.
