A win is a win no matter how pretty or ugly the game looked and boy, did this game look ugly. Weather played a huge factor in this matchup. The rain would not subside to allow the sun to shine it's light on the San Francisco 49ers.

Despite the soaked field and drenching rain, the 49ers demonstrated grit in their soggy 9-0 win over the Washington Redskins.

What felt like a trap game all week proved to be correct as the game went on. Washington was able to keep the game alive until the final seconds of the showdown. The wet conditions made both teams one dimensional.

Passing was just not an option for both teams, especially early on with the rain at it's heaviest. Getting any footing stable was insanely difficult. This was going to be a tough game for the 49ers being a west coast team flying into a three hour time switch.

Throw in the weather conditions that are hardly found in Santa Clara and the 49ers are in a tough situation.

All day, the game-plan for Washington was to ground and pound the 49ers into submission. The 49ers' defense was giving way on the ground against Adrian Peterson, but the 49ers' defense remained resilient. It was that resiliency and grit that saw the 49ers win this game to remain undefeated.

San Francisco is now 6-0 for the first time since 1990. Once again, this team is the real deal. The "pretenders" narrative takes a hit yet again. They just overcame another tough situation to emerge victorious. Passing was not the ideal plan of attack given the rain, but the 49ers eventually found success.

The adjustments made by Kyle Shanahan and clutch play-making from these players got this team over the hump. However, they would not have been able to have stayed alive in the game without another elite performance from the defense.

This defense is further cementing itself as the most talented in the league. It is just hard to find a weakness in them and you just wonder if there really is one. We are six games into the season for the San Francisco 49ers and they are yet to play their best game.

Even against the Cleveland Browns, they did not feel to have played their best, at least not offensively.

There is still a ton of time for the 49ers to reach it's ceiling, which is great because they do not want to peak too early. With their win over the Washington Redskins, the 49ers maintain their hold over the NFC west. This was a win they had to have because the division is filled with legitimate competition.

San Francisco will return home next week agaisnt the Carolina Panthers where their defense will be tested against MVP candidate Christian McCaffrey.
