The first version of our 2013 NFL Draft Big Board can be found in its entirety here. And, with those prospect rankings fresh in your mind, we take a little more in-depth at a couple issues on the board:
1. Where's Jesse Williams?: If the Big Board had extended to 41 players, the Alabama defensive tackle was next on my list. He's listed elsewhere as a top-25 player and a first-round draft choice.
Personally, I did not see enough consistent evidence to indicate that he will be a three-down force in the NFL. He's strong as an ox and can drop offensive linemen onto their heels. But Williams does not deliver much as a pass rusher (1.5 sacks in two years at Alabama) and he needs to develop a Plan B for when his initial surge is stymied.
He projects as a space-eating nose tackle or DE in a 3-4. If he's not asked to do too much, he might thrive in that role. For the moment, I think there are better options among the draft's interior defensive linemen.
As for the guys that didn't make the cut this time around, the next few up would be Ryan Nassib, Mike Glennon, Tyler Wilson and Zac Dysert, in that order. I get why some scouts like Glennon -- great size, big arm -- but he makes a ton of mistakes.
3. The Manti Te'o conundrum: As with just about everyone else, I'm still trying to make heads or tails of the recent Te'o developments. He'll need to deliver some solid interviews moving forward to hang in Round 1 (and on the my Big Board).
