San Francisco 49ers want Colin Kaepernick contract done before camp
The San Francisco 49ers have said one of their primary offseason goals is completing a contract extension with quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
So far the two sides haven't found middle ground, and the 49ers temporarily put the talks on hold last month as they waited to hear more details from a police invsetigation involving Kaepernick that occurred in Miami last month.
With that issue seemingly behind Kaepernick, the 49ers are hoping to get a new deal settled before training camp, according to CSN Bay Area.
Few players have ever found themselves in a position similar to the one faced by Kaepernick, who entered the league on a modest contract befitting his second-round selection and in just three seasons has positioned himself to be one of the highest-paid players in the game.
San Francisco has been hopeful it will be able to secure Kaepernick for less than his request of $20 million annually.Michael Crabtree
