The New York Giants are looking to rebound from a horrible 2013 campaign in which they finished at the bottom of the NFC East. Ultimately, to pull this off, the team's core players must stay healthy, and the Giants got a scare in that department during Thursday's practice when starting linebacker Jon Beason had to be carted off the field with an injury to his right foot.

Beason came up limping after a play during Thursday's session, and trainers immediately began examining his lower right leg. He was able to get up under his own power, but he ended up going back to the locker room in the passenger seat of the cart and was taken to the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan for tests, according to the Star-Ledger.

Last season was Beason's first with the Giants after being traded by the Carolina Panthers, the team he had been with for six years, three games into the 2013 season.

In 12 games with the Giants, Beason was one of the best run-stoppers on the team, recording 93 tackles in his limited season with the organization.

In March, Beason signed a three-year extension with the team worth $19 million to continue as a staple of the linebacking corps going forward.
