Bobby Massie a surprise inactive for Bears against Redskins

Right tackle Bobby Massie was a surprise inactive when the Bears released their list of inactives prior to Monday night's game against the Redskins.

No injury, suspension or other reason was given immediately for Massie being inactive. According to a pregame report on NFL Network, Massie is ill and was suffering from vertigo.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reported Rashaad Coward will not make the start and instead Cornelius Lucas will make his eighth career start and first as a Bear. Coward is the backup right tackle on the depth chart, but did have an elbow injury that kept him sidelined until this week.

Kicker Eddy Pineiro apparently will play despite the knee injury he suffered late in the week. Whether he'll play on kick teams remains to be seen.

The Bears have released tight end Bradley Sowell, while promoting defensive end Abdullah Anderson from the practice squad.

For the second straight game cornerback Sherrick McManis is inactive. Also inactive are defensive end Bilal Nichols (broken hand), cornerback Kevin Tolliver, running back Kerrith Whyte, inside linebacker Josh Woods and wide receiver Riley Ridley.
