Bengals Make Different 2022 Second-Round Pick In ESPN Re-Draft

Cincinnati has hit one some key picks in recent years.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals made one change in the latest 2022 re-draft.

ESPN redid the first two rounds of last year's draft and still had Dax Hill going to Cincinnati in the first round, but the Bengals selected a running back in the second round.

Washington's Brian Robinson was the choice at No. 63 instead of Cam Taylor-Britt.

"Let's think outside of the box here," Ben Baby wrote. "Sure, Cam Taylor-Britt is still a solid option, especially given his form toward the end of the season; in his nine starts, he had 39 tackles on pass plays and six passes defended. But Robinson could be a key long-term addition with Joe Mixon entering his seventh pro season in 2023. Robinson finished his rookie year with 205 carries for 797 yards and two touchdowns."

Dax Hill didn't play poorly (or enough) last season to justify a different pick at a position of need.

"The Bengals were over the moon when Hill was on the board last April," Baby wrote. "At this point, he still marks a key position the Bengals will need in 2023 when safety Jessie Bates III will be a free agent after spending this season on the franchise tag. Hill has grown as a rookie and flashed potential as a long-term starter, though he played 123 defensive snaps during the regular season."

Cincinnati has done a nice job drafting homegrown talent since Zac Taylor took over as head coach.

That has to continue, and likely get even better, if they want to keep contending in a loaded conference. The luxury of a rookie contract isn't lasting much longer.
