Cam Newton Should Reunite With a Familiar Face After Being Released By Patriots

The 32-year-old is still capable of being a starting quarterback in the NFL.

CINCINNATI — Cam Newton was released by the Patriots on Tuesday morning. The former NFL MVP lost his starting job to Mac Jones

New England is rolling with the rookie, but that doesn't mean Newton's days of being an NFL starter are finished.

The Washington Football Team should be interested in reuniting head coach Ron Rivera with Newton.

The duo helped the Panthers make it all the way to the Super Bowl L at the end of the 2015-16 season. They spent nine seasons together in Carolina.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is Washington's starting quarterback and he's a solid backup, but there's no reason why Newton couldn't help them win the NFC East for a second-straight season.

The 32-year-old spent one year in New England. He threw for 2,657 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games last season. He also ran for 592 yards and 12 scores.

Adding Newton to an offense that has Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, Antonio Gibson and Logan Thomas could be exactly what the doctor ordered in Washington.
