Joe Burrow Gives His Thoughts on the Bengals' Offensive Line

Cincinnati allowed 48 sacks in 2020

CINCINNATI — The Bengals' offensive line was an issue for most of the 2020 season.

Rookie quarterback Joe Burrow hid some of their flaws, as did head coach Zac Taylor and offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, but it wasn't enough.

The Bengals allowed 48 sacks in 2020, which was the sixth most in the NFL. Their entire offense revolved around hiding their issues in the trenches.

Most believe the Bengals should be aggressive this offseason and sign multiple proven offensive linemen in free agency.

Despite the outcry, the 24-year-old quarterback isn't focused on who the team adds to the roster this offseason.

"No. That's not my decision," Burrow said last week. "That's front office. I'm just the quarterback. So whoever we put out there, we're going to make it work."

Burrow's stance isn't surprising. He never made any excuses during his rookie season, even though it was clear that the offensive line was holding the team back.

This is also noteworthy because some have suggested Burrow's relationship with Taylor is the reason why the Bengals brought him back after going 6-25-1 in his first two seasons as head coach.

If Burrow's answer is any indication, he isn't the one giving the front office advice on what to do with their coaching staff.
