Bengals suffer devastating loss of 2019 1st round pick Jonah Williams

The worst fears of Cincinnati Bengals fans has come true. After speculating about the severity of Jonah Williams' injury, it was reported that the offensive tackle will sit out his entire rookie season with a torn labrum.

Williams was the 11th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft this past April, and stood to be a huge part of the game plan moving forward in Cincinnati.

I recently wrote an article about Jonah Williams - explaining how I though he was the perfect pick for the Bengals. However, the front office probably wishes to have that pick back.

Williams was one of the top rated players coming into the 2019 draft, and there were many who did not think he would be available by the time the Bengals drafted at pick 11. However, what was once thought to be a steal is now turning into a disaster for the Bengals.

Cincinnati already possessed one of the worst offensive line groups in the league last season. Rookie Billy Price struggled mightily last year, and the Bengals unit up front just hasn't been the same without Andrew Whitworth.

Jonah Williams was meant to be a step in the right direction for the Bengals, but he has now become the latest setback in what is shaping up to be a disappointing start to the new season.

Williams is still very young. He doesn't turn 22 until November, and he should return healthy next season. However, first round picks are meant to be part of the plan early.

Perhaps Zac Taylor's new-look offense can produce positive changes in the offensive line, but this loss is going to sting Bengals fans this year. Let's hope Cincinnati can be competitive without the 11th overall pick this season.

Maybe they can get the #1 pick to finally get a franchise QB

I guess the silver lining is that the Bengals now get two first round picks next year
