Three Teams Mentioned in Potential Deshaun Watson Sweepstakes

Watson is one of the NFL's best quarterbacks

CINCINNATI — It's no secret that Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson is unhappy in Houston.

The team will likely try to work things out with one of the NFL's most dynamic playmakers, but there's a chance he could be traded. In fact, the Texans have received calls about the three-time Pro Bowler according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

"As these rumors of percolated, as more and more people have talked about what is going to happen with Deshaun Watson, teams have started called as you would expect saying, 'hey, is this guy actually available? Could we actually trade for Deshaun Watson?' Rapoport reported on Monday morning. "The owner Cal McNair and no one inside the Texans organization has actually said they would trade Deshaun Watson. He has also not asked for a trade. However, that has not stopped teams from calling. That has not stopped people from speculating."

Watson is considered a top five quarterback in the NFL. Plenty of teams would be interested in trading for the Clemson alum.

He signed a four-year, $156 million contract extension with Houston in September. He also has a no-trade clause. That gives him the chance to help dictate where he ends up if he does decide to request a trade.

Rapoport named three franchises that could have serious interest in the Texans' star.

"The Jets, would that be a good spot or the Dolphins? Rapoport asked, before naming a surprise third team. "I would also not discount the Carolina Panthers in this situation. They have the eighth pick, so not as high as the Jets or the Dolphins, but that's a team that needs very badly to solve its' quarterback issues and an owner who is not afraid to make big bold moves."

If Watson does become available, more than half the league should be interested in his services.
