Sully's 5 Keys for the Bills Today against Tennessee

Five keys for the Bills today against the Titans.

One. Contain Marcus Mariota on scrambles to the edges. The Titans are vulnerable to pressure up the middle, so the Bills should be able to flush the Tennessee quarterback out of the pocket and force him to make plays on the move.

Two. Throw on first down early in the game to back the Titans off against the run. Everyone knows the Bills want to establish LeSean McCoy early. But when they give it to him on first down at the start, they tend to get into second-and-9. Use some quick game early, so Josh Allen can get the ball out.

Three. Play McCoy and Chris Ivory together at times. Ivory isn’t very effective as a runner these days, but he’s playing ahead of Marcus Murphy because he’s better in pass protection. This would allow Brian Daboll to be more creative with McCoy — the Bills’ leading receiver last season — in the passing game.

Four. Have Tre’Davious White follow Corey Davis all over the field. Davis had the best game of his career last week and is the Titans’ best wideout. They’re not exactly loaded at the position. A depleted secondary will be better off if they don’t have to worry about Davis.

Five. The 12th Man. The New Era crowd wasn’t a factor in the home opener, as the Chargers jumped out early and took them out of the game. When the crowd is buzzing, it makes things difficult for the opposition, forcing some false starts and miscommunication. The Bills’ defense showed in Minnesota that it can changed the course of the game by forcing turnovers and altering field position. They can win this game if they make big plays on defense against Mariota, an average NFL passer.
