Per multiple reports, former Denver Broncos and University of Colorado defensive lineman Justin Bannan has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place in Boulder on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old Bannan was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault with extreme indifference, first-degree assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury, and first-degree burglary, per Boulder police.

Based on police reports, Bannan is suspected of shooting a 36-year-old woman in the arm. It was a handgun used in the shooting and the woman was transported to a Boulder hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The story gets even weirder from there. Here's an excerpt from the Daily Camera's report.

The woman said she knew Bannan, but only because he was the part-owner of the building and she would see him occasionally pass in the hallway. Bannan is listed as the co-founder of Black Lab Sports, but the woman worked for a company called Element 6 that operates inside the same building but is not a part of Black Lab Sports.

When police found Bannan at the scene, he was carrying a bag containing two loaded handguns, along with an extra magazine. They also found a rolled-up $20 bill coated with a white substance that tested positive for cocaine.

Bannan told police he “didn’t mean to shoot her,” and that he was just hiding in the room because the Russian Mafia was after him and tracking his cellphone. He said he only fired the gun once and that it was an “accident.”

Bizarre.

Bannan had two different one-year stints with the Broncos (2010, 2012). He played his college ball at Colorado and was a fifth-round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2002. His NFL career spanned 12 seasons.

Bannan is the co-founder of Black Lab Sports, along with J.P. O'Brien and current Broncos Assistant O-Line Coach Chris Kuper. Bannan and Kuper were teammates in Denver in 2010 and 2012.

The moral of the story? Stay away from cocaine.
