The Denver Broncos fell to the Oakland Raiders on opening night 24-16. It wasn't exactlly the start Vic Fangio envisioned in his head-coaching debut.

The Raiders came out hot and intense and were the aggressors. The Broncos seemed shook early, failing to score in the first half.

“Just give them credit," Fangio said after the game. "I thought our guys were ready to play. Their first, drive they took it down there, we had a chance to hold it to a field goal, and we didn’t get it done there. But give them credit.”

There's a lot to take away from this game but we have to be careful not to overreact. There are so many new faces on the coaching and player level, plus two new playbooks — it's going to take some time to put it all together.

However, these games count. It's put up or shut up, and the Broncos don't have a lot of time to iron out the kinks.

In the latest episode of the Huddle Up Podcast, Zack Kelberman and I react to the Broncos' Week 1 loss, and reveal our key takeaways heading into Week 2.

Topics include:

  • How concerned should we be with Fangio calling plays from the sideline?
  • How should we evaluate OC Rich Scangarello's debut as an NFL play-caller?
  • Did Joe Flacco meet expectations in his first start as a Bronco?
  • Is the Broncos' O-line still cause for concern?
  • Why did Von Miller and Bradley Chubb disappear?
  • How big of a concern is cornerback depth and special teams coverage units?
