When the Cleveland Browns took the practice field Friday, Olivier Vernon and Ricky Seals-Jones were still not practicing, which likely means they will be out this week against the Buffalo Bills. Eric Murray wasn't expected to play this week after having knee surgery last week.

Pharaoh Brown was cleared from the concussion protocol and will be available. Damarious Randall has been practicing this week coming off of a hamstring injury, but he's been downplaying the notion that he will be playing on Sunday.

Vernon suffered a knee injury against the Denver Broncos and has been called day to day. This could mean that Chad Thomas will be a starter this week. Thomas has been dreadful since being selected in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but he was able to get a sack this year. Labeled more of a run defender by the team when he was drafted, he hasn't been impactful doing anything to this point.

It's that much more frustrating when the Browns traded away Emmanuel Ogbah before the season and then Genard Avery a few weeks ago, who are both better football players than Thomas. The Browns will be going from one of the better defensive ends in the league to one of the worst, making it opportunity for Thomas to show his worth or highlight another draft miss by this front office.

Ricky Seals-Jones is dealing with a bone bruise that kept him out of the second half of the game against the Denver Broncos. They don't really have another tight end that offers what he does, so they may utilize more receivers as a result.
