Are the Bucs Ready to End the Jameis Winston era?
After a six-turnover performance last week against the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is understandably taking plenty of grief.
But could he also be looking for a new team next offseason?
According to Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman, the Bucs may be prepared to look elsewhere for the answer at quarterback after the 2019 season:
Winston has plenty of positives to his credit, including multiple franchise records and being the first quarterback in NFL history to start his career with back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons. But he's also turned the ball over more than any other quarterback in the NFL since entering the league in 2015, and last week's dreadful performance was yet another reminder of his inconsistency.
Bucs head coach Bruce Arians has maintained that Winston's past seasons don't concern him, but it's hard to imagine they won't have any bearing on the decision to keep him or not this offseason, especially if the turnovers persist.
If Winston keeps playing like he has the last four years, and the Bucs don't bounce back from a slow start in the win column, don't be surprised if they turn the page on this era for the former No. 1 overall pick.
