Cardinals Release Markus Golden

The Arizona Cardinals say goodbye to Markus Golden after releasing him.

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Cardinals announced they released LB Markus Golden. The Cardinals save $2.6 million in cap space with the move.

The man himself confirmed it on Twitter:

Golden (31-years-old) entered the league as a second-round pick from Missouri. He spent 2015-18 with the Cardinals before entering free agency and landing with the New York Giants in 2019.

After two years in New York, Golden returned to the Cardinals in 2020 after being traded for a sixth-round pick. He signed a one-year extension with Arizona last September.

Golden finished his career with 316 total tackles, 47 sacks, 11 forced fumbles, 11 pass deflections, one interception and one touchdown.

Arizona - already in the market for an edge rusher after J.J. Watt retired - have the No. 3 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and could potentially address the position there. The Cardinals also drafted Myjai Sanders and Cameron Thomas in the third round of last year's draft.
