Should Cardinals pair All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey with Patrick Peterson?
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen, Ramsey's agent approached the team with the request following the Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans. Though there is no reported plan in place to deal the two-time Pro Bowler, this could change with the right offer.
Per Schefter, Jacksonville wants more than a first-round pick for Ramsey, which isn't surprising.
Should the Cardinals enterian the thought of adding a All-Pro cornerback to their secondary to pair with Patrick Peterson?
Can you imagine of good the seconardy would be with two All-Pro cornerbacks locking down the outsides and with rookie Byron Murphy playing the slot? The Cardinals would have the best, if not, one of the best secondaries in the entire league. If Kyler Murray improves like all rookie QBs do, teams will need to pass a bunch in order to keep up with the Cardinals offense. Having an amazing pass defense could change the team.
Adding Ramsey would also help the the run defense. With Peterson and Ramsey locking down the outsides, Cardinals would be able to have more men in the box to defend the run and can also send more blitzes because there wouldn't be as big of a risk of giving up a big play with those two All-Pro CBs. It could turn their defense into a team strength.
Arizona is in need of adding more talent to their team in any means possible. So getting a blue-chip player like Ramsey is worth a 1st round pick. If you think that's too much to give up, look at who the Cardinals have drafted in the first round in recent years.
2012 WR Michael Floyd
2013 OG Jonathan Cooper
2014 S Deone Bucannon
2015 OT D.J. Humphries
2016 DT Robert Nkemdiche
2017 LB Haason Reddick
2018 QB Josh Rosen
Jalen Ramsey is more valuable than ALL 7 of those 1st round picks... combined! Why not take a elite cornerback for just a 1st round pick? Cardinals don't have a great history of picking impact players. The known commodity is worth more than the mystery player Cardinals might end up taking.
Cardinals are set to have over 80 million dollars in cap space next year according to overthecap.com. This more than enough to pay a star like Ramsey what he wants to be happy and still have enough for several other FA additions on the offensive line.
What do you think of the Cardinals adding star CB Jalen Ramsey to the Cardinals secondary? Let me know in the comments below.
