Winners and Losers from Cardinals tie with Lions
That was a crazy end to Cardinals first game vs the Lions. Hard to complain after how poorly Arizona started the game the first 3 quarters. Kyler Murray and company came on strong in the 4th quarter and OT to make a major comeback.
Cardinals game was an emotional roller coaster, but there were some positive and negatives within the Cardinals 1st game. These are my winners and losers from the Cardinals tie with Lions.
4th quarter and OT Kyler Murray
Kyler looked great the last few drives of the game and in OT. He brought the Cardinals back from 24-6 deficit. No pass was more important than this last TD drive.
Fitzgerld had a heck of a game. 8 catches for 113 yards and the late game TD that lead to OT. Fitzgerald came up with a few nice catches on the evening and was a reliable option for Murray.
Cardinals 4th Q and OT Defense
As much credit as Murray will receive for the Cardinals comeback and eventual tie, the Cardinals defense played very well to stop the Lions from scoring late in the game and got the ball back into Kyler's hands. They need to build off this going into next week.
Easy to see why David Johnson was so excited for Kingsbury's offense. He had several nice running lanes and was used heavily in the pass game. Johnson finished with 18 carries for 82 yards and 6 catches for 55 yards and 1 score.
Cardinals 2nd quarter defense
Cardinals defense gave up 17 points in the 2nd quarter. I know some of this blame could be put on the offense, as they weren't getting many first downs and also had a turnover. They gave up a few big plays and had some blown coverages.
Kyler Murray and the OLine in 1st half
I was so excited to watch the Cardinals offense coming into the week. It was rough watching them struggle in the 1st half. Murray was sacked a few times and had a few erred and inaccurate throws.
