As the Los Angeles Chargers looked to fill out their roster with win-now players during the current free agency period, one of the players they were rumored to be interested in was linebacker Malik Reed who was just coming off of a 2022 campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, it appears that is no longer possible as the Miami Dolphins have signed Reed to a one-year deal. The exact amount he will earn is currently unknown and the news was first shared by Reed's agent and reported by Dov Kleiman of BroBible.

"The #Dolphins have signed former #Steelers, #Broncos LB Malik Reed, to a 1-year deal, per his agent Mike McCartney."

Reed's numbers haven't been anything eye-popping, especially in 2022, but he proved to be a consistent lineman who can get the job done in a more limited role. He has logged four seasons in the NFL and has recorded 148 tackles in his career with 59 games played.

The Chargers still have time on their hands and a number of other free agent targets that they can pursue so there is no reason to feel sad following this missed opportunity. John Johnson III is still heavily rumored to be signed next by LA's front office and a good trade package will come if they decide to deal Austin Ekeler.
