FRISCO - The battered Dallas Cowboys just took another blow to their thin defensive tackle rotation with the decision to move Tyrone Crawford to IR.

Crawford will be placed on injured reserve with the veteran leader set to have hip surgery to correct an issue that has hampered him since late last season.

And it’s not just one bothersome hip; both of them are in pain.

“Yeah, bursitis in both hips,” Crawford recently told CowboysSI.com - though it appears the injuries are worse than that.

Crawford said he was “hopeful” that he could keep playing with the injury by using “tons of Tylenol.”

Crawford, a starter since 2014 and a prominent team leader, was able to play in two games this season, helping at both tackle and end.

“I think this team has a chance to be something special,” he said two weeks ago, “and I want to be a part of it.”

But Crawford missed the entire offseason program and training camp while trying to rehab the problem. However, the pain has not subsided. The “Tylenol” didn’t work. And as he’s about to turn 30 next month, he and the 3-3 Cowboys approach a crossroad ... in so many ways.
