FRISCO - Receiver Amari Cooper is trying to explain the instant connection he felt with quarterback Dak Prescott immediately upon his 2018 mid-season arrival to the Dallas Cowboys.

"His game just matches my game well,'' Cooper says. "It's like when you put certain foods together. Like if you put ketchup on a burger. It just tastes good together.''

The numbers are certainly tasty. During Dallas' 2-0 start, Prescott has the some of the best stats of any QB in the NFL. He's No. 1 in completion percentage (82.3), No. 2 in passer rating (145.2), No. 3 in passing yards (674) an tied for No. 1 in TD passes (seven).

Are Dak's critics being silenced?

“They don’t matter,” running back Ezekiel Elliott says. “All that matters is what we think in this locker room. We all support each other, and we know Dak is one of the best quarterbacks in this league. They can doubt all they want. We’ll keep proving them wrong.”

Elliott also "tastes good together'' in this offense, of course. His numbers figure to eventually be near the top of the NFL as well. And Cooper? His eight TD receptions since joining the Cowboys speak volumes.

"It really does remind me of the years with Michael Irvin and Emmitt (Smith) and, of course, Troy (Aikman), who was the key in terms of if they stacked it up ... then step out there and take it to them downfield,'' Jerry tells 105.3 The Fan. "And that’s what Dak is doing, that’s what the offense is doing. It’s opening it up.''

Last year, the Cowboys scored their ninth offensive TD in Week 6. This year? Under new coordinator Kellen Moore, coach Jason Garrett's team has already done that in two games.

"The way I look at it,'' Amari says, "if you want to get to where we want to go, which is the postseason, everybody's got to play (aggressively). Everybody's got to be a threat.''

In other words, a feast of choices ... that include the ketchup and the burger.
