FRISCO - The NFL MVP race is, more than ever, an NFL MVP QB race. And, almost more than ever, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has entered the race.

It's sort of how this game goes: When a team does well, it's largely because its quarterback did well - and that's certainly the case with Prescott and with the eight guys listed as having better odds than he has.

Of those eight, you'll note that just one, Carolina nunning back Christian McCaffrey, isn't a QB. And you'll note, as USA Today does, that since 2000 only four non-quarterbacks have won MVP.

So play the position well enough ... do so on a winning team (or, even, a team that won that week) ... and you are in the field.

Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers is the lead horse here, familiar territory for him. The Prescott arrow figures to point us - or at last up from No. 9 - if only because the guy in front of him, Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes, is now sidelined with a knee injury.

Prescott and his Cowboys are coming off a resounding 37-10 win over the Eagles - resounding and widely noticed, as the win was nationally-televised on Sunday night. The Cowboys have a bye this weekend but next on the agenda is another Sunday nighter with a high profile, Dallas at the New York Giants.

Another chance to influence the odds ... and, more importantly, to change the NFC standings.
