Nick Herbig
Wisconsin Badgers

One-Liner:

A hard-working, hard-hitting outside linebacker with a tremendously high motor and potential who still needs to develop.

Evaluation:

The hot-stepper of the Badgers defense, Herbig is a spitfire whose personality follows him onto the football field. While he may not be the biggest edge rusher in college football, he might be the hardest working. The Hawaii native is known for his ‘no days off’ approach, relentless work ethic and is always the last player left after practice, daily. He has been working out with his brother Nate Herbig (Eagles) at Lane Johnson’s ‘Bro Barn’ during the past several offseasons, along with other Eagles linemen, which he says has had an enormously positive effect on him. Last season, he finished with 61 tackles, including 14.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks and two forced fumbles. Remarkably, he left a handful of sacks on the table, one area of his game he could look to improve upon, as he learns to become more of a finisher. Should Herbig continue to master his craft, look for him to make a mad dash to the draft!

Grade:

4th Round

Quotes:

“I feel like last year the pass rush as a whole wasn’t what Wisconsin is about,” he said. “At Wisconsin, you’re expected to have double-digit sacks. That is a big part of the game I need to focus on and really bring that edge to our team.” -- Nick Herbig

Background:

Nick Herbig is a linebacker from Hawaii who will look to make an impact for the Wisconsin Badgers. In 2020, Herbig made seven starts at outside linebacker and totaled close to thirty tackles for his team. He made a tremendous impact in Wisconsin’s bowl game vs Wake Forest where he totaled four tackles for his team.
