In the upcoming 11th annual ESPN The Magazine Body Issue: a sight for sore eyes

Ed Kracz

Next week your eyes may see something that can never again be unseen.

They may burn, itch, and water to the point of temporary blindness.

Or, depending on your persuasion, maybe you’ll love it. Maybe you will take it in the good spirit in which the pictures were taken, and that was for fun.

Either way, it’s bound to be a topic of conversation.

It already was, actually, inside the Eagles’ locker room prior to practice on Monday.

On Sept. 6, ESPN The Magazine’s 11th annual Body Issue will hit newsstands and inside there will be a photo of five Eagles offensive linemen.

They weren’t blocking, but posing.

Not just posing, but posing in the nude. That’s right.

In. The. Nude.

VIDEO: Brandon Brooks talks about posing nude in upcoming magazine

There will be a sneak peek – if you dare – on ESPN’s web site on Sept. 4.

The five linemen who posed naked are Lane Johnson, Brandon Brooks, Jason Kelce, Isaac Seumalo, and Halapoulivaati Vaitai.

“It’s going to be funny when it comes out,” said Johnson. “The day we had out there was funny, a lot of funny stuff going on.”

Johnson (pictured above with Brandon Brooks) said he thought center Kelce felt the most comfortable prancing around with no clothes on.

"I got jealous, started acting like him a little bit, strutting his stuff a little bit," said Jonnson.

Johnson was the one who was initially approached about doing this. He convinced his teammates to do, but couldn’t sway Jason Peters.

“He said maybe if he was 28 he’d get his ass on there, but he said he’s too old right now,” said Johnson.

Brooks is the oldest member of the group. He was still 29 when the photo shoot took place back in June, early July, but has since turned 30 on Aug. 19.

“It was (uncomfortable) at first,” said Brooks. “I thought Body issue, you’d just have robes on, you’re naked, but you’re not really naked, but you’re really naked the whole time. You’re posing and block everything off right, but once the shoot is over you’re still ass-naked out there.”

The shoot was done in the players’ parking lot at Lincoln Financial Field, right near an elevated stretch of Interstate 95.

“Some of the taller trucks were looking over the overpass,” said Brooks.

Added Johnson: “It was a unique male bonding experience. It was a lot of fun.”
