Eagles Make Late-Round Trade With Bucs, Continue Draft Craziness
The Philadelphia Eagles and general manager Howie Roseman have made another trade on Day 3 of the 2023 NFL draft.
The Eagles reached a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to trade their second selection in the sixth round. The Eagles were initially slated to make the No. 191 overall pick, but they relinquished that selection to Tampa Bay. The complete details of the compensation package are as follows:
Eagles get:
- 2024 fifth-round selection
Buccaneers get:
- No. 191
The Buccaneers selected Nebraska receiver Trey Palmer with the Eagles' pick. Palmer caught 71 passes for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns last season at Nebraska, leading the Cornhuskers in all three categories.
The Eagles are now expected to have five selections in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft. Three picks are expected to be given to the Eagles as compensatory draft selections.
However, one of those five picks was received in a trade last season with the Minnesota Vikings and could turn into a fourth-round selection if wide receiver Jalen Reagor fails to meet specific statistical benchmarks. The Eagles traded their 2021 first-rounder to the Vikings prior to the 2022 season in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round pick and a 2024 conditional fourth-round.
The Eagles are slated to have one more selection in the draft at No. 249, which will be the 32nd overall pick in the seventh round.
