The good news for the Falcons on this week’s injury report is that Matt Ryan will be back as the starting quarterback against the New Orleans Saints. As Dave Holcomb spoke about this week, Ryan will be back just in time to line up against Saints quarterback Drew Brees for the 22 time in their careers. That is the NFL record for the number of times that two quarterbacks have faced each other.

The Falcons will also be getting back guards Jamon Brown (foot) and James Carpenter (knee) for this game after having the bye week to recuperate. However, guard Wes Schweitzer is still in concussion protocol and has been declared out.

Cornerback Desmond Trufant has been listed as questionable for Sunday but is expected to play as he continues to recover from the toe injury that he suffered in Week 5 against the Houston Texans.

The final two players on the Falcons injury report are rookie defensive lineman John Cominsky (ankle) and running back Ito Smith (neck). Neither player practiced last week and both have been listed as out for Sunday’s game. With Smith out, expect Brian Hill to be activated at running back to spell starter Devonta Freeman.

For New Orleans, they’ll be facing the Falcons at near full strength. The only Saints player who may miss Sunday’s game is tackle Terron Armstead. He missed practice on Friday due to illness and it’s uncertain whether he’ll be well enough to play. Cornerback Patrick Robinson (hamstring) is listed as questionable but is expected to be able to play.
