Falcons 'Great' Interview with Auburn RB Tank Bigsby; Atlanta Homecoming?

The Atlanta Falcons had a formal interview with Auburn running back Tank Bigsby at the 2023 NFL Combine.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Atlanta Falcons coach Arthur Smith values physicality in his running backs - so how about Auburn's "Tank" Bigsby?

A native of LeGrange, Georgia, Bigsby grew up in the shadows of Atlanta ... and emerged as a 6-0, 213-pound runner who won SEC Freshman of the Year in 2020 and departed Auburn as the program's all-time seventh-leading rusher.

And now, Bigsby, one of the top running backs in the 2023 NFL Draft, could be set for a homecoming - and had a positive formal interview with the Falcons at the Combine.

"It was great," said Bigsby. "Talked about great things, talked about football, pass pro ... It was awesome. Meeting went well."

Bigsby, 21, averaged over 80 rushing yards per game in each of his three seasons for the Tigers, finishing with 2,903 yards on the ground and 25 touchdowns. He added 62 receptions for 448 yards across 35 career games.

In an otherwise unstable program, Bigsby was a consistent presence - and is excited about the possibility of bringing that back home.

"That's my home city," Bigsby said. "It'd be great, just running the ball in Atlanta - that's something fun."

The Falcons' running backs room is led by Tyler Allgeier, the second-leading rusher among rookies this past season, and Cordarrelle Patterson, who's entering his age-32 season and final year of his contract.

Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot said that his team marks players from the state of Georgia and needs to keep adding pieces to the running backs room - and Bigsby, with his "great" formal interview to boot, checks a lot of boxes.
