The question in the minds of Falcons fans as the team heads into its Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks is, will Matt Ryan’s right ankle be healthy enough to allow him to start? D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Ryan was walking on Thursday without the boot.

Ryan hasn’t missed a start since the 2009 season when he sat out for two games with turf toe. Most signs point to him keeping his consecutive game streak alive but if Ryan’s ankle flares up again after Friday’s practice, Matt Schaub will make his first start at quarterback since 2015 when he was with the Baltimore Ravens. Danny Etling would be activated from the practice squad to be Schaub’s backup.

In other injury news for the Falcons, cornerback Desmond Trufant will miss his third straight game with a toe injury. Rookie Kendall Sheffield will get the start in Trufant’s place. The Falcons will also be without guard James Carpenter (knee) and running back Ito Smith, who is in concussion protocol.

For Seattle, defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson (oblique) and safety Delano Hill (elbow) have been declared out. The problem for the Seahawks is that they have six players listed as questionable.

The only one on that list that likely won’t be available for Seattle is starting guard Germain Ifedi. He missed practice the entire week with a knee injury.

Tackle Duane Brown (biceps) participated in full practice on Friday. Safety Bradley McDougald (back), safety Quandre Diggs (hamstring), defensive end Ziggy Ansah (ankle) and cornerback Tre Flowers (Neck) were all limited in practice on Friday. All five players should be on the field Sunday.
