Things don't get any easier for the 2-6 New York Giants, who host the NFC East-leading Dallas Cowboys at home on Monday Night Football. The Cowboys are coming off a bye week while the Giants are looking to snap a four-game losing streak.

This is the 116th regular-season meeting between the two teams, with the Cowboys firmly in control of the series, 67-46-2. In Week 1 of this season, the Cowboys beat the Giants 35-17. The Cowboys have won the last five regular-season meetings between the two clubs.

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones will have another tough test this week against a Cowboys pass defense that has allowed only 6.99 yards per passing attempt, eighth-best in the NFL.

Pregame

Anyone else feeling a little nostalgic knowing the Giants are going to be rocking this classic look tonight?

Lead the Way...Please!

The last time the Giants had a lead in a game this season was on September 29, 2019 against Washington. They have since gone 20 quarters without being ahead of their opponent.

5:30 p.m. Here's a cute little segment here courtesy of Golden Tate and his family.

Inactives

R.J. McIntosh is inactive for the first time this season. He can thank the arrival of Leonard Williams for that.

For Dallas, the big name missing is linebacker Leighton Vander Esch. Sean Lee starts at WLB, Joe Thomas starts at SLB.

Here is tonight's referee.

The Giants won the coin toss and defer. Don't get me started.

First Quarter

14:57: Wow! Giants off to a fast start as Antoine Bethea intercepts a Prescott pass intended for Michael Gallup. That was the first INT by the Giants against Prescott in 184 pass attempts. 1st-and-goal.

13:25: The Giants settle for a Rosas 21-yard field goal after failing to punch the ball in from the 8-yard-line.  This is the Giants' first lead since Week 4 vs. Washington.

Corey Ballentine opens in the slot for Grant Haley.

8:41: A Cowboys' touchdown comes off the board thanks to offsetting penalties.

8:22: Brett Maher hits a 35-yard field to make it a 3-3 game.

8:19: Cody Latimer will be the kickoff returner tonight, replacing Darius Slayton, who didn't look comfortable in the role.

7:36: Demarcus Lawrence, who called Daniel Jones a "little Eli" sacks Danny Dimes for a seven-yard loss. The Giants meanwhile go three and out on a drive on which Saquon Barkley didn't touch the ball.

Jones has been sacked 21 times this season -- tied for 9th most among QBs in NFL

2:14: Maher's 54-yard field goal is wide left.

2:09: Hurrah! The Giants finally have Jones run a zone read, on which he picks up 16 yards.

Defensive note: The Giants have been mostly running a two-defensive lineman front and the Cowboys, much like the Cardinals did two weeks ago, are eating them alive. Cowboys have 51 rushing yards on 10 carries, with Zeke Elliott getting eight carries for 43 yards.

STAT NOTE: Evan Engram  has been targeted 60 times this season -- tied for 4th most among TEs in NFL . He had a 12-yard reception in the closing seconds of the first quarter.

Offenses facing the Cowboys have thrown the ball 55.2% of the time (107 Pass Attempts/194 plays) on 1st down this season -- 3rd highest in NFL; League Avg: 45.6%

That will do it for the first quarter. It's a 3-3 tie.

Second Quarter

14:34: Barkley has had a couple of negative runs this game. Giants run blocking hasn't been as sharp as hoped.

13:49: Beautiful catch by Golden Tate on a one-handed reception to give the Giants 1st-and-goal on the 1. The Cowboys defense has allowed first downs on 31.0% of pass attempts this season -- 5th best in NFL.

13:29: Barkley gets the call on first down. Cowboys read it perfectly and dropped him for a loss. How about trying play-action?

12:00: Jones connects with Cody Latimer for the 1-yard touchdown. That's Latimer's fifth career touchdown catch.

Aldrick Rosas doinks the PAT, and has missed either a PAT or a FG in three straight games. Giants lead 9-3.

9:25: Antoine Bethea is easily having his best game as a Giant. He just recovered a fumble by Randall Cobb which Jabrill Peppers caused with a huge hit. Giants ball on their 20-yard-line.

Injury Update: Cowboys WR Amari Cooper has an injury. He "may" return.

6:39: Wowza. Danny Dimes with a big-time block to spring Golden Tate for 16 yards.

And we have a delay because...wait for it...a black cat on the field.

2:52: And, the drive stalls. Giants sett for a 25-yard field goal by Rosas. Good job by Riley Dixon to corral a high snap.  12-3 Giants.

2:00: Ezekiel Elliott has rushed for 71 yards.  Giants continue playing two defensive tackles upfront and teams continue to run right at them for big yardage. Meanwhile, Amari Cooper is back in the game.

1:05: Prescott finds tight end Blake Jarwin for a 42-yard touchdown. That's Jarwin's third TD of the year and his second of the year against the Giants, whose coverage of that play was awful.

Jarwin has scored five of his six career touchdowns against the Giants. Giants lead cut to 12-10.

0:48: Darius Slayton has a pass go off his hands.

0:39: Terrible decision by Daniel Jones, who tried to get a quick strike. The rookie hung the ball up there and Xavier Woods picked it off.

Jones has 7 interceptions on just 216 attempts (1 INT per 30.9 attempts) this season, the 3rd worst of 28 qualified quarterbacks.

:03: Maher's 52-yard field goal gives the Cowboys a 13-12 halftime lead. Maher is 10 of 14 this year on field-goal attempts of 50+ yards.

Dallas scored 10 points in the last 52 seconds of the half.

HALFTIME

Third Quarter

Cody Latimer, behind some great blocking, returns the opening kickoff of the second half 50 yards.  Cowboys tried to kick the ball short, but Latimer, who's a more experienced kickoff returner, made them pay.

Meanwhile, Cowboys safety Jeff Heath, who made the tackle on Latimer, has a leg injury. His return is questionable.

11:18: Jones is sacked on 3rd-and-8by Jaylon Smith and Robert Quinn.  That's the Cowboys' second sack of the night.

11:06: The Giants get called for a penalty on a punt. Eli Penny is flagged for a chop block that he executed with Josiah Tauuefa. Instead of pinning the Cowboys deep in their own territory, Dallas begins this drive at their own 26.

7:42: These turnovers are really starting to become annoying. Being aggressive is one thing, but until the ball security improves, what good is it?

Jones fumbled the ball (recovered by ex-Giant safety Darian Thompson). Jones (7 turnovers) is now tied for league lead with the most turnovers in the league.

4:49: And the Cowboys extend their lead on Maher's 28-yard field goal off the Jones turnover. Cowboys now up 16-12.

The Giants have no answers against the run. None. Thus far, Ezekiel Elliott has rushed for 108 yards on 16 carries (6.8 YPC). Elliott's high during a game this season is 6.6 (His Average: 4.5).

4:34: Latimer with another big kickoff return, this one for 41 yards.

3:49: Jones keeps it and gets out of bounds, but a scuffle breaks out after Xavier Woods gives Jones a shove and appears to throw a punch at Will Hernandez. The Cowboys then get flagged for taunting.

:30: And once again the Giants have to settle for a field goal. Rosas hits the 26-yard field goal to make it 16-15. Had he made that PAT earlier, it would be a tied game.

That will do it for the third quarter. Cowboys have 302 total yards - Giants 173. Elliot 115 rushing yards, 27 (on 13 carries).

We have a tight one folks, as the Cowboys are up 16-15 with 15 minutes to go.

Fourth Quarter

14:21: A big neutral zone infraction by Markus Golden gives the Cowboys 3rd and short.

13:10: Goodness, the Cowboys offensive line gives Prescott all day to throw the ball. All day. But on this one, Prescott scrambles for 11 yards.

12:47: Prescott hits Michael Gallup against zone coverage for a 15-yard touchdown. Meanwhile, defensive coordinator James Better is on the sideline having a conversation with DeAndre Baker, who missed that coverage. Cowboys up 23-15.

And for those who missed it, the Cowboys have won 44 consecutive games dating back to 2014 when they have a lead of 7 or more points in the fourth quarter. They're up by eight.

12:32: Finally! The Giants get Saquon Barkley in space, and he picks up 65 yards, a career-long reception for Barkley.

The Giants are challenging an incomplete pass to Evan Engram that there was defensive pass interference. But guess what? The call stands. When will these coaches ever learn? Of the 52 challenges, only five have been overturned.

11:52: And once again the Giants have to settle in the red zone, this one from 29 yards. DeMarcus Lawrence gives Will Hernandez a shove and draws a penalty that will be applied on the kickoff.

11:50: Another penalty by the Cowboys, this one on Justin March for pulling a Giants player off the pile.

10:36: Deja vu. DeAndre Baker is having a rough night. He was just flagged for defensive pass interference. Not sure though about that call, which is a 26-yard penalty.

8:05: Well that should do it. On 3rd-and-12, Cooper catches a 45-yard touchdown on a crossing route against Cover-2.  Cowboys 30-Giants 19

Some news about the black cat:

3:05: Nice run by Jones and an equally nice slide for 9 yards.

2:34: Michael Bennett gets the sack.

2:07: Will Hernandez mixes it up again with a Cowboys defender who ends up with multiple fouls. Hernandez is not someone you want to mess with.

1:19: Sack No. 4 for the Cowboys. Malik Collins drops Jones for 9 yards.

0:47: Jones and Golden Tate keep the drive alive.

0:22: And another sack for the Cowboys, who knock the ball out of Jones' hand. Jamal Lewis scoops and scores on a 63-yard touchdown.  Cowboys 37, Giants 18.

The Giants have now lost 12 out of their last 15 games against NFC East opponents and six in a row to the Cowboys.
